Retro Toddler Skirt

SOoo... only a few weeks in and the truth comes out... I really(really, really) like to sew! You will definitely see different types of work through the next year, but i'm going to try a TON of new sewing projects! I have two lovely girls at home, so most of the clothing items I post, will probably be mini sized.... Like this skirt I made with the help of my Evee girl! This is a perfect first project for any one. It only requires 2 rectangular pieces of your favorite fabric, thread and a small length of elastic. Also, finishing with a thick ribbon is optional... ours is not attached. When making items at home, always remember upcycling is key! The material used for this skirt was extra from another project and the Ribbon was a belt from a pair of pants I bought long ago... something told me to keep it around and i'm glad I did, because the colors matched perfect! There is nothing like the satisfaction you get from making something OLD(and useless), into something new(and some times fashionable)!
Like what you see? Feel free to email me with requests... this item can be made to meet you sizing, texture and color needs :) --->happy crafty folks!

Bee done Quilt

Man, I'm really on a roll! Tonight I finished up a quilt that has been sitting around for 3'ish months. I call it a baby blanket, but I guess it's big enough for a toddler. I used 5 of my favorite cotton fabrics(one being pink w/ little honey bees) and finished it up with brown satin binding. This item would be perfect for your favorite toddler or a baby shower gift. Luckily, for some one ;-) It will be up on my etsy shop this week!

Cup Cake Ornament!

Okay... I'm just too excited about these, to keep them a secret! I'm going to get busy over the next few days and cover my tree in these cute pink cup cakes... "Why cup cakes?", you ask. Well, BECAUSE; who doesn't love cupcakes?!?!(besides my husband). I used a simple cupcake template(found with google). The cupcake is three layers of felt that's stitched with bright green(kinda thick string I found in the craft room; regular sewing thread works fine!) I also finished it with some tube beads to look like purple sprinkles! yum! What do ya think?

Who's Tree?

We've ALL been sick for the past 2 weeks... we even missed Thanksgiving Dinner! Our Christmas tree went up and sat bare for a few days. Usually I make new themed ornaments for it every year, but I was really torn between Owls and Nesting Dolls. I experimented with some scrap material... and this is what I came Up with. I have decided on something else for our tree, but it's a surprise... I will post in the next few days!

Look Who's Turning 1!

My little miss. Amelia will be ONE next month. We are planning a VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR PARTY... but I wasn't soo excited about spending big bucks on store bought(themed) favors. So for my first project, I opened up good'old Photo Shop and made some of my own! After Halloween bubbles were 25 cents for a 15pk! YAY! So... I printed covers and rubber cemented them on. Also, for every party---> I like making buttons for the kids. So we slapped a caterpillar on a circle template and used our Badge-a-Minit to make our low budget favors! The pictures aren't great... but here's one of our finished favors. We also included a cupcake pencil, stencil, bug tweezers, rubber bugs, rock candy, a bug catcher, stickers, and a mini spiral graph.

11.22.10

Hey! Welcome to my Blog! This is completely new to me... so it may take a couple weeks to get everything looking good on here. Where to start... hmmm: Well, I'm a crafter. I have two young children(toddlers) and I'm a stay at home mom. I don't get very much time to myself, unless I manage to somehow have energy after everyone is tucked into bed(husband included). I promise you, that doesn't happen too often! I figured if I had people following my progress, then I would make a greater effort to get stuff done. My goal in creating this blog, is to try and get motivated to complete at least one project a week for the next year. By 2012, I would like to have 65 projects finished... Easy, right?!?! Stay in touch through the next year, to see what gets accomplished! I hope I can be motivation to others, as well as inspiration for new projects in your home. Feed back is much appreciated! Happy Crafting!~Kristen
